In addition to measuring and recording several quantities from sensors, Growduino can switch on/off output devices such as Lamps, Humidifier, Fan and many others. There are 240V Solid state relays inside, which provides great freedom in the choice of devices.
Every device switching is based on user settings, all of this can be done using web browser in your smartphone, tablet or computer. The best thing is, that it can be done from any part of planet Earth (Internet connection needed, of course).
According to selected main unit, You can control up to 12 devices. See below for detailed description. Every output has a standard digital timer and intervalometer besides. If unsure, don't hesitate to contact us. We'll be glad to help You refine your needs and choose the right main unit and devices You need to control. Just keep in mind, that maximum power is 2300W = 10A/240V of all devices together. Every device which draws 250W or more need to have a heatsink for relay, please state this when ordering.
Light - lightning control
While you can control the lighting by using simple timer, Growduino goes even further. System can switch the lighting based on the available light outside, it's therefore possible to use it for additional lighting early morning or late in the evening, outside of the main harvest season, during shorter sunlight period or just during cloudy days, so plants have always enought light available for the ideal growth. System can also not switch on the lighting when the temperature is too high. For the most effective lighting we recommend LEDs. It's possible to use other sources of light including lamps or vacuum tubes up to 1200W (relay has passive cooling). We recommend using the system with light sensors and temperature and humidity sensors.
Fan - fan/airflow control
You can control the airflow by setting the temperature and humidity range, which are the two most important parameters in every closed growing area. It's possible to set up range for both variables together (start fans when set values are reached or surpassed), or separately (start fans when only one of the variables reach certain value). It's also possible to stop the airflow when temperatures become too low. Another important function is periodic ventilation when neither values are reached nor surpassed. Growduino is the master in airflow control. When setup properly, access to the fresh air for your plants will be always ensured. (Requires Temperature and Humidity sensor). And what's best on Growduino fan control - You can set up different values for day and night!
This output is designed to control the humidifier. It's controlled by setting the range of relative humidity. We recommend ultrasound devices, because those do not produce hot steam. It's even possible to control high-pressure valves or pumps. In combination with ventilation, you can hold ideal relative humidity in your growing area and can therefore avoid dying or improper growth of your plants caused by too high/too low humidity. (Requires Temperature and Humidity sensor).
Watering - irrigation control
This output has standard digital timer. You can set several daily intervals to switch on/off the watering/irrigation system. Or just interval and duration, it's as simple as that.
Based on the distance of fluid surface level in the tank to the sensor you can switch on automatic refill of watering fluid/nutrient solution. For example it's possible to control solenoid, valve or pump. Growduino goes a bit further even here - you can start refill when higher temperatures are reached (therefore keeping the fluid temperature optimal). You can use this in systems like Aquaponics, when fishes need certain water temperature. (Requires Ultrasound sensor and Water temperature sensor).
Heating - temperature control
This output can be connected to up to 1000W heater and heat the growing area in times of cold temperatures, for example outside of main season or during the nights. Or you can control the valves and heat the space using the hot water system. You can also control small heating plates under sensitive plants, there are many options. (Requires Temperature and Humidity sensor).
This output can be connected to up to 1000W submersible heater, typical are the ones from aquarium (about 100-300W). It will keep water/nutrients warm, so it's very suitable for systems like NFT, hydroponics, Ebb&Flow, Aeroponics or even Aquaponics. (Requires Water temperature sensor).
Opposite effect than humidifier. It's driven by the same sensor, but can switch output of dehumidifiers, which usually have the switch-on only option of plugging into the power outlet - usually equipped with mechanical switch. If You need to connect high power drain device or just want us to recommend some, ask us.
CO2 gas dispenser
Allows You to dose a CO2 gas into grow area for maximizing yield. It's driven by CO2 sensor. You can set time dependency for dosing only during active fotosynthesis, as well as temperature and humidity limits. Thanks to theese limits dosing will stop when ventilation is running. This will save a lot of money spent for a gas. Electromagnetic valve is not included.
FreeTimer - intelligent timer with intervalometer
Enables switching on and off in periodic intervals, or manually set up irregular intervals or intervals with varying lenghts. Ideal for venting or short-timed weaker lighting for TimeLapse photography during the night. It can be used for anything, although if you plan to use it to switch on/off powerful devices for long periods of time, include the specification of those devices in your order - additional heatsink will be installed.
